Adirondack Branch Memorial Scholarship

In addition to supporting the national AAUW Educational Foundation, the branch provides its own Adirondack Branch Memorial Scholarship. Through the years, contributions have been made to the fund to honor the memory of various members who have passed away. The scholarship is awarded annually to an area student presently attending an accredited college, working for a degree at the associates, bachelor or graduate level. The Branch awarded a total of $2000 to two 2011-12 recipients.

TO QUALIFY FOR THIS SCHOLARSHIP, you must ALREADY be one of the following:

attending a two year accredited college, working for an Associate degree;
attending a four year accredited college, working for a Bachelor (or equivalent) degree;
completing a two-year college, already accepted into a four-year Bachelor Program (a letter of acceptance must be enclosed);
OR a Graduate student who has earned at least 4 graduate hours credit.

General requirements: you must be a resident of the area served by the Adirondack Branch of AAUW.
Criteria for awarding scholarship: scholastic achievement, need, commitment to college program that indicates probable completion of college.

To apply for the scholarship, please download these documents (pdf format), and print and complete them as follows:

Application form: Complete and return it to us at the address on the form. Please enclose an official transcript from your current college, or have it mailed under separate cover.
Two letters of reference: Please fill in your own name on the line after “For” and provide a copy to each of your references. They will then need to complete the form and return it directly to us.

The selection committee meets during March, so all components of your application must be received by us no later than March 1, 2012. Notification will take place around May 1, and a check for the scholarship recipient will be awarded at our Spring Banquet on May 31, 2012.
